What is physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy involves an active approach to injury management, prevention, and rehabilitation. Our therapists foster a patient centered, multifaceted and evidence-based approach to better suit your needs.

A typical 1-hour physiotherapy assessment will include a conversation regarding your injury or the progression of your pain, medical history and any other information that is pertinent to what you are feeling. We will then work through a series of movements and tests to assess and diagnose what structures could be causing your symptoms.  This will help determine a diagnosis and narrow in on a specific treatment, which is included in the assessment. Your treatment will include a combination of modalities (see list below) that will help you reach your therapeutic goals.

No referral necessary unless otherwise noted by your extended health benefits provider.

Follow up treatments are typically 30 - 45 minutes long and include a reassessment of your movement patterns, a treatment including select modalities and a progression for your home exercise program.

Treatment modalities:

  • Cupping
  • Myofascial release techniques
  • Dry needling
  • Acupuncture
  • Joint mobilizations and manipulations
