What can a Kin do?
Kin’s can…provide exercise programs to target many movement challenges. How about we focus on balance in this post?
Our balance system relies on our; eyes, ears and a part of our brain called the cerebellum. This system constantly assesses information from our environment and provides feedback to our muscles on how to react to that environment. For instance, as we approach a set of stairs, our eyes see the stairs and signals our brain to prepare for “lift-off”. Our muscles in our ankles, knees and hips will get ready for more work. Our ears will sense the lift in height, sending information to our brain about the change in position and this information will provide real time shifts in our leg muscles and postural muscles to maintain our upright posture as we move up the stairs. It is a very well coordinated and fine-tuned system.
Balance ability is interrupted by injury, disease and age. Despite these interruptions, Kinesiologists can develop creative and focused programs to help you regain your confidence for things like hiking, climbing stairs and maybe returning to a sport or activity you no longer feel comfortable doing. We rely on clinical research to understand our balance system and develop exercises that follow information gained from the research.
Balance training can be hard work, so we try to make it fun and interesting. Book a movement evaluation with us today and find out more about making exercise fun😊
